This miniature picture of two birds perched in a tree has been cleverly created using varying shades of chopped hair. Whilst hair work is usually associated with mourning, this is more likely to have been made as a love token – indeed the birds may be love birds.

The background card has darkened with age but the picture itself is in good condition. It is well-presented in an attractive giltwood frame with decorative details.
