Tiny but Precious
Early 19th Century

These ever so charming little baby shoes were never made to last very long so they are wonderful survivors. Hand-stitched in blue and white petit point and edged with ribbon, they are lined with cream satin and have vellum soles. Each toe is decorated with a bow to match the blue ribbon ankle straps that fasten with a little mother of pearl button.
The fabric of the shoes remains in excellent condition though the blue ribbon has discoloured with age. The soles likewise are intact though they are partly detached along the sides of one shoe and on the tip of both toes.
