The Striped Dress

Despite the rather bored look of the sitter, the costume detail makes this an attractive portrait. Her blue and white dress with its distinctive ‘Donna Maria’ sleeves is striped with a sprigged pattern and is fastened at the neck with a small brooch whilst her frothy bonnet is trimmed with a matching blue, white and gold ribbon that trails down her back.
