The Grenadier Guard
Adam Buck
£650
This interesting gentleman with his suntanned cheeks and crows feet is shown in three-quarter profile. He has chosen not to wear a toupée to conceal his balding head though he still has a powdered tye wig with a rolled curl (known as a buckle) and doubled-over knot. His red coat has navy blue facings and gold braid with a gold epaulette and black buckled cross-belt.
The portrait is set in an attractive rolled gold frame with a chased border. Under magnification there is light dust under the glass and a little wear to the paint along the outside edge. The brooch pin has been removed.
