Coral & Pink

Pierre Pasquier

£980

Wearing a traditional white muslin dress with a frilled neckline and puffed sleeves accessorized with coral beads that complement her pink ribbon sash, this coming-of-age girl looks a little diffident as she poses for the artist. The portrait is signed Pasquier and dated O[cto]bre 1823. It is presented with a narrow gilt metal mount within a gold frame that is glazed on the reverse to reveal sage silk.

Pierre Pasquier worked in France between 1810 and 1835. Lemberger describes his portraits as ‘technically equal [to] Augustin at his best’.
