French Lapdog

This finely featured young French lady in an ice blue high-waisted dress and gold jewellery is seated with her cute little dog on her lap. The dog looks though as if he’d rather be jumping around than sitting still for any artist!

The portrait is in good condition and is set in a decorative ormolu frame with ribbon bow cresting. The frame has a small indent to one side, as shown; this is not visible when viewing from the front. It lacks a ring but can easily be hung using ribbon threaded through the cresting.
