The Spotted Ruff

Housed in a chased pinchbeck frame, this silhouette can be worn on a chain as a pendant. Painted on card, the profile shows a lady wearing a dress with a white spotted lace ruff collar and gold hoop earrings, her neatly gilded hair upswept and secured with a large comb.

There is some dust under the glass and a barely visible underchip to the top edge. The reverse of the frame is glazed to reveal blue silk with some marks to the edges caused by an enthusiastic polisher.
