Shown in profile, this young Regency lady is wearing a simple white dress so typical of the period with a narrow ribbon band on the high waistline and a square neckline. Her only ornament is the tortoiseshell comb in her upswept auburn hair.

Painted in watercolour on card, the portrait is presented in a traditional papier-mâché frame with a brass surround and star hanger.
