The Ostrich Feather

This delightful little silhouette was painted around 1780 and shows a young lady in a décolleté dress trimmed with lace. Her hair falls over her shoulders and is topped with an eye-catching ostrich feather.

The silhouette is painted on paper and bears no inscription. It is housed in a later Victorian turned wood frame with a framer’s label reverse for Francis Draper of Park Street, Grosvenor Square.
